Was it really that idealistic? I remember the plots seemed to rely on Diablos ex Machinas constantly and if someone just died you were lucky. If you weren't then two people would die and atleast one would be a kid. The punchline was that it was okay, because god loves us. It wasn't bad, but any idealist Aesop was hopelessly broken.

Haven: That's probably just a case of Values Dissonance; it sounds like Too Good for This Sinful Earth is in full effect.

Nerdspringer: There seems to me a bit of Creator Provincialism at work in that all of the angels have American names and the main characters only visit places in America. This makes me wonder if angels with Japanese names only visit Japan and Indian angels only go to India. That's like government agents with Hispanic names only going to places with a large Hispanic population.
