Ronin Angel writes: I just finished God of War 2 and I just have to say I am kind of frustrated with the ending. It's a Downer Ending for sure, but my problem with it isn't the death of Athenia(allthough I found it utterly depressing it's the fact that every single character seems to be carrying an Idiot Ball. I mean, clearly Kratos is a loose canon. What if the Gods of Olimpus would just try to help him out with the whole bad dream thing? Perhaps going to Hades and retrieving Kratos's family? Would he be so hellbent on killing them all. No. He wouldn't.

I mean, they do it all the time in the Greek myths. Would it really be that big a deal?

It almost becomes a Wall Banger in the second game where Zues engineers the situation where Kratos intends to destroy him, and at the same time blames him for it. Also, When Athena sacrifices herself she doesn't seem to have thinken through about what really was "Good of Olimpus". Clearly Kratos clouldn't be that much worse of a king then Zues? I mean, what's the worst that could happen? This is even worse with the Sisters of Fate. These characters are supposed to be the wisest women in the entire universe. And yet, negotiation and or siding with Kratos never seems to occur to them. What the hell?! Arrogants aside, you'd think that they'd have some kind of sence of self preservation. But no, they all three instead choose opt to fight to the death. Not to mention they're supposed to know the future. Idiot Ball much? :(

[[Nevrmore]]: I wrote up the main story of the first two God of War games. I'll look up examples of what tropes it utilizes later if no one else does.

Andrew: I went in and seriously fleshed out the first entry here; I've been playing the sequel, so I'm in something of a mood.

Fallen Angel Eyes: I love this game. I haven't played the second yet unfortunately, as I'm currently living overseas and I have an American PS 2 so I can't get the Euro one. I did a search and cross referenced all the tropes that came up. Thanks for finally making this entry. It was on my to-do list but I hadn't gotten around to it yet.

SAMAS The Gameplay And Story Segregaton entry doesn't work. Kratos wasn't killed by a simple wooden stake. Ares hurled a stone pillar at him from several miles away. The impact of that would have splattered a normal man.

Roland: Before I add it, would you say Darker and Edgier applies here? I would.

Andrew; It's a matter of opinion, but I would say no. I'm not the world's biggest fan of Go W (I like it a lot, just not to the same extent most do) but I think the tone of the game is pretty genuine. Aside from the two sex scenes, there's not a lot in the games that struck me as being there just to show off how bloody and edgy the designers are. Again, this is the realm of opinion, but it certainly seems to me that the game writers created a tormented character and built an appropriate storyline around him.

Ununnilium: No to Darker and Edgier, but yes to Rated M for Money, IMHO.

Shay Guy: Why the hell is this "Godof War" and not "God Of War?" Everything I've seen on this wiki suggests it should be the latter. (Edit: Never mind, guess it's both. Talk about unnecessary redundancy.)

Morgan Wick: It's not redundancy, it's a feature of the wiki. In the actual titles, it ignores capitalization. It could be Go Do Fw Ar or Godo Fwar or G Odof War or God Ofwa R or even Godofwar and it would still work.

In fact it appears as God Of War in RC, so apparently not everything suggests it's both, as I'm guessing you must have followed a link to Godof War. If it had come to you yourself you would have typed in God Of War.

Andrew: Should my expansion of the Bad Ass entry be spoilerized?

Nevrmore: I don't see why you need to name every mythological hero/god/whatever Kratos has killed just to prove he's a badass in the first place, personally that seems like overkill. Do like I do; Just say that about 95% of the people Kratos meets end up being killed by him.

Andrew: Because it brings into sharper relief his...bad-assery, I guess. Saying he kills 95 percent of the creatures he comes across is fine, but it's also terribly vague language. By naming these well-known figures of Greek mythology, we emphasize that Kratos really is a bad-ass. Anyone can kill a random zombie. It takes game to strike down Ares.

Nevrmore: But we already have the trope text that states that Kratos is going to be the reason that Greek Myths don't exist anymore, so stating at length the mythological heroes he's killed up to this point is redundant.

Nezumi: Is God Of War really an example of the Theme Park Version? I don't deny that it really mangles mythology, but I don't think it's in the same way the Theme Park Version does. The Theme Park Version comes from flattening, simplifying, and exaggerating the content, supposedly making it easier for the viewers to deal with. God Of War just twists Greek Mythology all over the place; the worst you can really say about it is that it's Adaptation Decay, not the Theme Park Version.

Man Called True: I have to argue against the Theme Park Version as well. If anything, it's more like Darker and Edgier for Greco-Roman myths... Citing "multiple minotaurs" is kind of a cheat, since Dungeons And Dragons has done that for going on twenty years.

Plasma: I wouldn't think of it as Theme Park Version either. Go W doesn't even attempt to make things as they were in Greek Mythology.

Nezumi: As no disagreement has cropped up, and no-one else has gotten around to it, I'm taking it out, pending consensus that it does, in fact, belong there.

Andrew: I did a fairly significant re-write. This is a popular game and a large page, and I thought some of the writing was clunky and unimpressive.

UT: That's great, but now the page reads like a fellatio for God Of War, which is barely more readable than bland and technically faulty writing.

Andrew: It doesn't. It states that the games were exceptionally popular, received high ratings from the vast majority of reviewers and won many awards. All completely, undeniably true. There's a section about the "intuitive" combat interface, but it also includes criticism of the game as a Button Masher. There are basically two paragraphs (about the writing and storytelling of the original) that are pure praise, and the rest of the entry is largely straight forward plot explanation.

Kratos: Never the less, one might suggest a slight change that doesn't suggest people that wrote the description lust after the manly-parts of me, Kratos. Arguable or not, describing the plot as a high point is subjective. Perhaps it could be said that it was praised for having a good plot, but just saying "this is the best part of the game" is telling of which way the pendulum doth swing.

Whether you considered the scene where you find out how I, Kratos, am deathly white in color, to be extraordinary in either conception or execution, is immaterial and really shouldn't be a matter of consideration.

Andrew: Point taken. But for the record, you're not funny.
