The best Ben 10 series

When Omniverse was first announced I was skeptic on how they would keep continuing the series by doing the same exact thing, but to my surprise it ended up being one of the freshest part of the series. Ben 10 Omniverse may just seem like a lame attempt at making the series cash in on the original's success, but it's more than that. If you were a fan of the Teen Titans animated series you'll most likely enjoy this show. Derrick J. Wyatt's style gives the characters so much expression while lending itself to more fluid animation. One of the better aspects of this series are the amount of unique plots. Alternate timelines? Cool. A future Ben who can fuse aliens? cooler. An all out brawl between multiple Bens and a Gwen? Awesome. Every Arc offers something unique and plays on the typical formula. Along with some interesting additions to Ben's rouge gallery like Khyber, Malware, and Dr. Psychobos you've got yourself a recipe for fun. Another enjoyable aspect is setting up things ahead of time and expanding them later. A future Ben suddenly popping up an asking our Ben to help with a "time war" seemed like a one off joke at the time. Later however, we actually get to see it in its glory.

However, for all the good things this show has done there are a few minor missteps. Ben has access to every alien he's ever used. This essentially turns him into a powerhouse capable of conquering basically any situation. Energy using enemy, just use Feedback. Time user, Clockwork's got it covered. This removes the thought Ben had to put into what Alien he was going to use against his foe. On top of this, some of his newer Aliens get tossed by the wayside and only make a handful of appearances, such as Gravattack.

Overall, this series has more ups than downs. When it hits it makes a home-run, but when it misses you'll feel it big time.

Final Rating: 4/5

Well, written plot, hu ? I beg to disagree on this point. The plot is completely uncoherent.

This is NOT the best Ben 10 series. Not even close.

@Kirby: I don't think it's good form to tell a reviewer that their opinion is wrong, unless they make factual errors.

Except in this case when they are clearly wrong.

Why are they clearly wrong, qtjinla15? Because they like a show that you don't like? That's a bunch of bunk. I like this show too, but I don't bash people that don't like it. doctrainAUM has a point. Slow Teddy and I have every right to enjoy this show.

Aah, you made an obvious fallacy by assuming I don't like the show when I am a huge Ben 10 fan. Between the poor handling of romantic relationships, the derailment of Ben's character culminating into a more mature hero at the end of UA and the random half ass handling of certain retcons and such without full depth or explanation in or out of universe.

qtjinia15: could you please post a review of this show? Judging by what you state here, I am really eager to hear your full opinion.

I'll get around to it originally. I do plan on starting my own reviews, but I need to figure out a format of how to do them, as 400 words is too small a limit for a decent, let alone good and in-depth review.

Okay. Please keep me informed about it.

I will. I'll probably be breaking down like each review being one per character and episode or multi-parters with additional reviews being summaries of those review subjects. Meaning refamiliarizing myself with the material and not basing it off wikipedia entries like some people. Seeing as I've seen all the episodes shouldn't be too hard. XD.

I gotta agree with doctrain and gatordragon, I don't care for this entry in the series, but stating something without anything to back it up is a very bad debate, akin to a "its so!, its not!" type of argument.

I'll get around to my own series of reviews later.

"If you were a fan of the Teen Titans animated series you'll most likely enjoy this show."

I was a fan, and I don't enjoy this show. At all.

"Derrick J. Wyatt's style gives the characters so much expression while lending itself to more fluid animation"

Debatable. Plus you neglect the fact the artstyle is horrible to look at.

"The writing is also a step up. Unlike Alien Force and Ultimate Alien this series doesn't treat itself that serious. The tone is significantly lighter and the characters are much sillier."

How does the fact it doesn't take itself seriously and the characters being sillier make the writing better? Good Writing has nothing to do with serious or light tone; And being sillier certainly doesn't make up for all the blatant Serie Continuity Errors or the main character's development being blasted apart.

" While silliness is much more apart of this series, that does not mean it doesn't have serious moments. One notable example is 11 year old Ben's breakdown after Malware destroys one of his aliens."

Yeah, sure. For me it was a major narmy moment- Ben had a mental breakdown because his favourite alien was destroyed? Seriously? Guy got his hand almost cut off, suffered Mind Rape from a Ghost alien and got beat up several times by an Evil Overlord, and THIS is what scarred him for life?

" Another notable thing in this series is the foreshadowing. Rook mentioning large rodents on his planet or Driba mentioning a 23rd Mr.Smoothie may seem like small passing jokes, become plot points in later episodes."

Yeah, because we never saw this kind of foreshadowing in other shows before. Also, clearly we needed foreshadowing for a 23rd Mr. Smoothie rather than for Malware's plan to destroy Galvan B, or his ability to destroy aliens.

" its interesting characters, great dialog"

You mean like the Hippie Florauna, the dumbass duo of Galvans or Ben yelling at Max he can beat up villains because "they are good I am evil the end" ?

I am sorry, I am probably a bit violent, but... I just don't get this point of view.

Theo why have we not formed an alliance yet? Anyway from some of the episode descriptions I've read the worst has yet to come .

Thanks^^ And yes, I saw that. But I gave up on watching the show anyway so it's not like I care that much.
