Not scary, just bleak and annoying

Day of te Choosing tries hard to be a serious Cosmic Horror Story ... and fails because of trying too hard.

First of all the thing is just too bleak and full of despair. Halfway through the thing there's already so much suffering that you lose all concern to what happens to any of the characters.

The second problem is that if you're knowledgeable enough about astronomy, you simply cannot take it seriously. Let's be frank - the universe is big. I mean like really really BIG. So big in fact, that if you look at the starry night sky, the stars you see may already not exist anymore.

At this point it's clear that a sadistic fleshy monstrosity, no matter how much powerful will ultimately fail in their malice. Even if it was capable of faster than light travel, which is highly improbable, the sole process of seeking new worlds to devour is flawed and ultimately doomed to fail.

And seriously, I'd be incredibly satisfied by a scenario where once the Eldritch Abomination was just close enough to their next designated world to prey on, it's sun would go supernova denying them all resources and everything the magalomaniacal creature could do is suffer massive Villainous Breakdown pathetically exclaiming "This Cannot Be!", realizing it has not enough energy left to seek and reach another world and is doomed to meet a slow demise in lifeless void. Serves you right a**hole.

And that's all folks.
