Teenage Megan Ninja Fox

Teenage Megan Ninja Fox! Teenage Megan Ninja Fox! Woman In A Tube Top! Megan Power!...

You know the critic reviews for this movie; "Utter Shit!" Unanimously. It now has the same Rotten Tomatoes score as TMNT 3; I thought it couldn't be that shit could it? Surely most of it is hate for Micheal Bay and Megan Fox...It's not.

April O'neal has more screen time than the Turtles and is never not on screen for longer than five minutes. Now people like April O'neal...Check Deviantart...People really like April. But people hate Megan Fox and she has to exposition some really stupid shit that no actress could make sound good.

The plot...I don't care if you shut your brain off, your other working senses will urge you to ask...Why? Eric Sacks and Shredder want to attack Manhattan with a chem bomb...Why? To extort the government for money...Why? They're clearly already billionaires and there are easier ways to game the system. Shredder wants to take over Manhattan using said plot...Why?

Even worse, Hamato Yoshi does not exist in this movie, The Turtles and Splinter have no connection to japanese culture in the slightest. So for the first time ever despite countless cartoons, movies and comicbooks; I ask...HOW DO THEY HAVE JAPANESE KATANA AND SAI IN THE SEWERS?...Did Splinter find them? Did Splinter make them? Real ones? In Manhattan?

It is extremely obvious Eric Sacks was supposed to be Shredder, but they scrambled at the last second to change it. Shredder is a Generic Dooms Day Villain because they had to cast some random asian in the role at the last minute.

The film is at it's strongest near the end where the Turtles, get to be the Turtles. [Watch this scene.] That's the characters you love, just being themselves. Longer scenes like that would made this film a bit more enjoyable, but no...can't go five minutes without Megan in it.

I like the Turtles new "On Steriods" design, But I admit you can't call them ninjas. Just because the Hulk attacks you in the dark. Don't mean it was stealthy.

This Movie is too interested in giving terrible exposition to develop their (terrible) characters in any way. And in the ending they basically go "Yeah! We're getting a sequel! Suck it!"

I sincerely hope they don't.

Shredder wants to take over Manhattan using said plot...Why?

More like "What" even with your brain off you wont be able to instantly see there is a major flaw in this plan.

I was hoping this movie would be a good, because even as a non-fan, I was curious. However, most reviews just say it's Transformers with turtles, so it's just passable action movie junk, nothing special. But then again, a movie about mutated turtles that are teenaged and practice ninja skills is pretty much doomed from the outset. It's a pretty silly concept, and that's undeniable.

A stunningly popular multi-media franchise spanning decades, is not doomed from the outset. It's even technically a comicbook movie. Comicbook movies USED to be doomed from the outset, but are now the greatest money-makers.

What doomed it was Michael Bay's usual garbage. He stupidly thought to americanize an already american franchise, by ridding it of all it's foreign influences. He wanted to make the japanese Shredder into an american white man, the Foot ninja clan into american style 'Foot' soldiers. The Turtles and Splinter have nothing to do with japan and aren't even ninjas. And he completely erased an important asian character(Hamato Yoshi, the reason Shredder hates the Turtles) from continuity.

There were people who loved Ninja turtles working on this movie, but the guy with money(Bay) really wanted Teenage Alien Soldier Turtles, and only relented on the alien and Shredder being caucasian parts.

Johnathan Liebsman may have directed it but he was clearly just a puppet. You want an actually good CGI Ninja Turtles to get into, there's 2012 show on nickolodeon.

I have no idea why analysts think that silly concepts can't make money. It just seems like people underestimate the public's capacity to enjoy something like that. Then again, I'm drawn more to silly concepts than ones that take themselves too seriously, so I could be biased.

The irony with Bay is that he won't tell stories that he thinks are "silly", but has no qualms whatever about making them stupid instead.

The turtles are ninjas because Splinter found a book on ninjutsu in the sewers and thought it would be a good parenting manual? Fucking seriously?

Always expect the worst and you can only be pleasantly surprised.

Frankly, I find the complaints about "americanization" of the franchise utterly laughable. The Shredder has suffered way more brutal changes before (he was a goddamn alien in the 2003 series, he was Raphael in the IDW series for a brief period of time, an ancient demon also in the 2003 series, a goddamn computer program in fast forward). Turning the Foot Clan ninjas into armed soldiers likewise makes very little difference when they were for the most part robots dressed like ninjas (and in the case of the 2012 series, several of their members are non-asian). Not to mention Karai is still running about.

It seems his intent was less to "americanize" the franchise (Splinter has a Fu Manchu and dressed in a kimono, Leonardo is clad in a freaking Samurai armor and all four are literally covered in Japanese Kanji) but rather to modernize it (Shredder being a businessman, the Foot Clan being armed soldiers, so forth). Which I see nothing wrong with it (once again, Shredder was once a computer virus). But the change in the movie worked well on its favor (Shredder's Establishing Character Moment was pretty cool).

On the review itself, I found the screen-time between April and the Turtles pretty well balanced all in all (roughly 50/50).

If you think screentime for April (who used to be a regular kidnap victim) vs the Four Main Turtles to be 50/50 is GOOD, then there is something seriously wrong with you. And it wasn't even 50/50. Compare time with only the Turtles, to time with only April, and it is painfully out of sync. I DO NOT LIKE MEGAN FOX. She is not a good actress.

Never mind that III has fewer reviews collected (and the 2014 film actually has a higher rating) and that Rotten Tomatoes doesn't measure a movie's quality. Look at Hook. That movie That movie has a 30% - Rotten. And yet look at how well-regarded it is by the public. Tightwire, you can't prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. Plus, at least she's a better April than Paige Turco.
