HP's version of Dreaming Of Sunshine

I've heard this fic compared with the naruto SI's Dreaming Of Sunshine and it's not too far off of a comparison, nor does it seem to suffer for it.

The SI is a person who has lived in 'our world' and knows of the 'insert world' through books or other media, has lived their life, and somehow jumped over after their death. In this case the SI becomes Desdemonia Malfoy, sister to Draco. While precocious and as intelligent as a fully-grown adult might have been in a child's body, so far the story has remained interesting.

There is no attempt at a Draco in Leather Pants development. But neither are the Malfoys presented as straight villains either. The upper crust of Pureblood Society is expanded upon and given more depth (the adults at least). The world is not straight canon. Several characters who would have died during the last Wizarding War appear to have survived, which also throws the SI's expectations off and forces her to play things a bit slower than might normally be seen in a Peggy-Sue type story. The world-building and explanations/analysis the SI has come up with are intriguing and thought-provoking.

The SI's relationships are nearly nonexistent at first, having done her best to keep herself separate from those around her. Draco is presented as fairly immature—to be expected when the majority of the story takes place as he and the SI are seven and six years of age respectively—but that also serves to highlight just how mature the SI is in comparison.

This is one of the downsides, IMO. The SI is almost ridiculously rational and a few developments that occur—especially as the story moves closer to Draco's (and Harry's) first year—do stretch this Troper's Willing Suspension of Disbelief in places. Still, as precocious and hyper-intelligent as 'Dezzy' appears it reads fairly nicely and this Troper almost did not notice except for moments of Fridge Logic.

Overall, however, I enjoyed it and the story seems to be regularly updated about 2-3 times per month. I mentioned it was like Dreaming of Sunshine (which I also liked...until it started going into Naruto filler territory.) Time will tell where this story goes and I look forward to seeing that.

The problem with this story is that it somehow managed to go nowhere in the first 4 months of writing, and now we've been like another 4 without an update. Okay-ish idea, though it's kind of boring to watch an overpowered kid grow up. Might get better, if it ever updates again.
