It wouldn't necessarily make him male since Ore Onna is a trope. As for how his gender is unofficial, the show's production simply never made any statement on the matter, since the Japanese community never assumed him female. Google ロボッピ 女性 or ロボッピ 性別 and you'll find no discussions whatsoever.
I personally believe the Viewer Gender Confusion entry should be kept, since it definitely happened even if only in the West, but it needs to be rewritten to acknowledge that.
Oh, I definitely agree it should be kept, too. I myself even assumed he was female early on in the show. I just think unofficial is a weird way to put it, I guess? You could say that about any androgynous-looking character in anime.
"Let’s see who’s stronger: someone that has something to protect, or someone that has nothing to lose."I'd like to nominate Robopoppi for the new scrappy. I have never found a yugioh character so annoying, not even the Zexal bunch.
Hide / Show RepliesYour opinion doesn't count as proof of unpopularity. I have yet to see any mass dislike towards him.
The askreddit thread showed a lot of people hate it for jobbing Ema, being annoying etc, with only one weird guy that liked it for the cat smile.
We should wait a while to say whether Roboppy counts.
Everyone look at my sandboxRegarding Revolver's trap card being mirror force, are ppl still divided over that? if not, we should delete it from the broken base section
Edited by 227someguy Everyone look at my sandbox Hide / Show RepliesDivided or not, that's not a topic where opinions are strong enough to be considered Broken Base. It's a minor thing barely anyone discusses.
So after watching the show a couple times, I kind of noticed a comparison between Ryoken Kogami and Copen Kamizono. Both are talented scientists who are fulfilling the wishes of their fathers to eradicate a certain race (Ignis/adepts) that they helped created and regretted doing so as the race would eventually run humanity to extinction if left unchecked. They also antagonize the main protagonist who is a byproduct of said father's experiment (DARK Ignis Origin/Azure Striker) and both have a bullet theme to their character and power. In the sequel, Revolver and Copen don't directly antagonize The Hero and instead focus on taking down the antagonistic organization that consists of the species they have sworn to take down. Their only beef with the hero this time are clashing ideals in that one side (Playmaker/Gunvolt) believes in Co-existence while the other believes that neither side can ever co-exist. While I want to put this in Counterpart Comparison, I'm not sure if it is this or Expy, so I'm just putting this out there for now.

Everyone look at my sandboxSo can we start a discussion about Go? Because I think he's a strong candidate for Base Breaker if not the Scrappy. Since most people I see just hate him in Season 2, and in season 1 everyone found him extraneous and rather meh.
Hide / Show RepliesCharacter Derailment seems more appropriate. He pulled a 180 and fell into Flanderization.
Everyone look at my sandboxMaybe it's just me, but the dub and the sub pronounce Yusaku's name differently.
What happened to the base breaker portion for Go and Soulburner? They were here yesterday and now they are gone.
Hide / Show RepliesWe're gonna need to keep an eye on Soulburner/Takeru Homura. After today's episode, I've seen people call him a Playmaker/Yusaku Fujiki clone, and compare him to both Johan and Crow, and not in a good way. If his reception remains divided over the next three months, we may have a Base-Breaking Character here.
Vegeta: I'm back bitches!
Little confused on the Viewer Gender Confusion entry for Roboppi. If oira is an unambiguously male pronoun, wouldn't that make them male (or at least as close to male as you can get for a sexless robot)? How is their gender unoffical?
