to be fair, Carlini almost certainly knew it was suicidal, but Giacomo was seriously injured, and his first priority would be to protect his Lord. his sacrifice brought time for their forces to regroup, and diverted the false god's attention away from the injured prince (who was right NEXT to Czin's objective)
If the second point s factually accurate and he entered the battle knowing that he was almost certain to lose, but did so to protect his lord and buy time, then it's notWhat An Idiot.
