In my circles I make Python references all the time, and very few get them.
Sometimes I get, “Is that a Monty Python reference.” But they don’t know. (Sometimes it isn’t)
So YMMV.
I make them not to be clever or cool, but because I like to.
So if some frown upon it, or anything like that- lighten up.
If you’re just having fun with references being “discredited”, well, that’s as may be.
And cool.
