I have removed the Character Derailment examples from the YMMV page and placed them here because of an edit war. The opening sentences of the description for Character Derailment state:
When an established character becomes largely different, exhibiting behavior contrary to what has been previously shown. This is not a matter of organic growth. Rather than gradually changing in response to events and experiences, a derailed character will exhibit shockingly unusual behavior that implies malfeasance or incompetence on the part of the writers.
The change in Freddie's behavior does not qualify as shockingly unusual. And the other example doesn't make any damn sense.
- Character Derailment: George the Bra told an actual ghost story on his first appearance. Later, his ghost stories involve malfunctioning laundry machines and expired warranty.
- Season 5 derails Freddie. For starters, he loses 4 seasons worth of his feelings for Carly with no explanation, having had them referenced on the show for the last time in iDo which was only a handful of episodes before iOMG. In iCan't Take It, he edits Carly out of one of a webshow skit, which is something he never did to Sam even when they really hated each other and the idea of doing so to Carly would have been unthinkable.

Yeah, it should be left out, the page itself is meant to have a Flame Bait banner when I checked it again.
I've used several sub-tropes (which are allowed to be used) to give a more focused view that avoids the Flame Bait issue.
