I am thinking that information on this page and the corresponding pages should be split in two, one for the Carton Network series, Dream Works Dragons: The Series, and one for the Netflix Original series, Dragons: Race to the Edge. It is inappropriate to keep information for two separate series on one set of pages. And yes, they are separate series. A couple of things that make that clear is one that on Netflix the Dragons:Race to the Edge series seasons are available for streaming, while the Cartoon Network series episodes are not. Netflix does not own streaming rights for those episodes and thus it makes it that it is not connected. Another thing is that the Cartoon Network series concluded in 2014, and Cartoon Network did not ask for any more episodes, and at the time those working on that series had finished up that series. When they got to working on the Netflix series, they were told to make it different than the Cartoon Network series, and they were given a lot more freedom by the Netflix people than they had gotten from the Cartoon Network people. Through that the focus of the series and everything that happened was quite different from the Cartoon Network series, as well as being three years later. Also, Dragons:Race to the Edge is a Netflix Original series, which defines it as a series of it's own, further separating it from the Cartoon Network series. Also, the Dragons:Race to the Edge series is a part of Dream Works deal with Netflix for providing a certain amount of hours of content to Netflix, through new series. All in all, this wiki needs to be updated to reflect the fact that Riders/Defenders of Berk is one series, while Dragons: Race to the Edge is another. How to Train Your Dragon Wiki, reflects the fact that they are two separate series, and that needs to be done here as well.

So maybe with a third title being added (Dragons: Race to the Edge) maybe we should think about moving this page. Maybe Dreamworks Dragons, based on Wikipedia's title. Maybe.

Seconded. The series name is Dreamworks Dragons. The subtitles are season names, not too unlike some animes' story arc names(Like Dragon Ball Z and seasons 4 and 5 of the dub of Yugioh Duel Monsters).

Is it safe to assume that after the film there are going to be two different animated continuities? One with the animated series the other being HTTYD 2.

I mean its possible the show will lead to the new movie, but I feel there will be to much story to either give exposition for people not watching the show or simply drop for the sake of non-watchers.

I don't think so. Based on the synopsis on the wiki page for the sequel, nothing sounds like it will be necessary to see the tv series. Kind of like, you don't need to read the Potter books to follow the movies.
