** Averted hard with the Dragon's Eye - while the item itself is one of a kind, Hiccup and Fishlegs spend a lot of time recording notes from it between episodes (or wanting to during an episode but needing to move on). This pays off big time in "Buffalord Soldier" as it allows them to locate the home of the Buffalord dragon species.

** By the third season, Astrid seems to be knocked off her dragon every two or three episodes, even though in every other way she's clearly [[ActionGirl the best warrior]] on the team after Hiccup. Partly justified because she's an aggressive fighter on a [[FragileSpeedster small dragon]], so she only has make one mistake to be in trouble.
