the comic seems to have been transfered from keenspot to http://www.giantrobot.club/. it would be a bit of work to update all the links though that still redirect to the original keenspot urls

Hi folks I need a bit of help with an example(s) from a Special Efforts thread. See InstantDeathBullet Sandbox for more details Links to threads are in the description.

Any help, suggestions, or other info can be posted to The Special Efforts thread

The examples shown here could perhaps be salvaged with more context or used in other tropes.

What game mechanics, if any, make instant death possible with these games? Please be specific. For example weapons, hit locations, critical damage, direct one shot one kill weapons (like the Golden Gun in GoldenEye)

Does an Instant Death Bullet Occur in cut scenes, gameplay, or anywhere else in the game?

Who watches the watchmen?

Moving this here until I've got a better idea what trope applies to it. I'll re-add it soon.

EDIT: And done.

Tyoria: McJeff, I too like for works pages to explain examples at least a little, but removing almost all of the unexplained examples seems rather excessive unless you're alleging they don't actually apply to the work in question. There is no Wiki rule against unelaborated entries on a WORKS page, it's only a problem on TROPE pages because unless you've seen/read/etc the example origin you're not going to know how Two Words: Obvious Trope makes any sense. But on a works page — exactly what kind of crucial detail is being omitted by a simple link to Fourth-Wall Mail Slot? It happened, yes. Also, do you think you are the only person who scans a page for tropes and then adds detail to them if you think it's helpful? Because in taking out valid tropes you have prevented other people from doing the same thing in the future, and many of the tropes are ones they wouldn't have thought of by themselves (or maybe didn't even know about!) — so now, instead of getting an elaborated example later on the page will simply not have a trope listing AT ALL. That's not exactly an improvement.

Mind, I think some of them really did deserve to get yanked, since it looks like they were just thrown in there for being a staple JRPG cliche whether or not they had any attention brought to them, but I'd vouch for a lot of these being specifically riffed on at one point or another.

I'm restoring them, because I remember most of them.

While you're at it would you mind offering supplemental details? The best works pages clearly explain how examples are used so they avoid shenanigans like this. As a general rule if a works page doesn't look like the page for American Dad there's room for improvement.

See you in the discussion pages.

Mostly they're just pointed out to be made fun of.
