There has been no statements saying that the player is killed at the end of the cutscene, they're probably just killed off so you can actually end the run.

Ok, no one else is saying anything. I'll nix the tropes and see what happens.
The state of TV Tropes.
Newly added tropes Downer Ending and Reality Ensues assume that an IDPD assassin is sent to kill the mutant sitting on the Throne.
Is this anything more than fan speculation? Any Word of God to back this up? The ending cutscene is not yet finished, so the game itself doesn't show what is happening.
In fact, as of the latest update, this fan speculation seems to be less likely, since the first version of the ending had the player character's death sound play after showing the IDPD officer leave and the screen faded to black. But the death sound was removed in the latest update, suggesting it was simply a mistake.
I hesitate to delete this tropes, but if there's no Word of God for this actually happening, I say cut them and wait what the actual finished cutscene will be like.
