Pulled these:

Hence why Michael Grade, who screwed the show over in the late '80s, is the only BBC Controller never to be knighted
— Michael Grade, who screwed with it, is the only BBC controller not to be knighted.

As a Doctor Who fan who grew up in the eighties, I would love this to be the case, unfortunately the facts are these:

1) Of the 21 Controllers of BBC 1 over the years, only two have been knighted: Sir Paul Fox and Sir Bill Cotton (both about 20 years after their tenure). Not even Lorraine Heggessey was honoured for bringing the show back!

2) Michael Grade is the only Controller of BBC 1 to be made a baron, so either the Queen didn't mind that much or she doesn't actually have that kind of veto power over the honours.

Soo... probably not, no.

So, do we need to revisit this one? As it's still there five years on, and doesn't seem to be factually accurate.

I made the Elizabeth II redirect after some discussion from the Redirect thread. Forgot to mention it when making the redirect itself.

Looking to namespace move this page - should this go under 'useful notes'? Linked to 'House of Winsor'?
