Does anyone else think that Steve Cortez isn't necessarily indicative of Unfortunate Implications for being a widower who gets over his husband very quickly? Bio Ware has a long history of love interests who have recently lost a love interest, sometimes within the course of the game.

I haven't romanced him, but in my playthrough, it's pretty damn clear he wasn't 'over' his husband at all. He can move forward, but it's obvious he never forgets him. The very last conversation with him involves him thanking Shepard for giving him reason to live again.

This entire entry needs to be cleaned up to reflect ME 3. The synthesis entry needs to be looked at too. There's been a lot of talk over at Broken Aesop about it. If it's going to be here, it needs to be written very carefully to ensure it's here for the right reasons, if there are any. The entry says it's "presented as a moral lesson." If that's true, it's an Aesop, not an implication, and doesn't belong here.

I went ahead and scrapped the Mass Effect entry entirely. There were a lot of things I wasn't happy with. If someone wants to write it back in, great, but several things need to be taken into account aside from the issues with Cortez and ME 3 I stated in my previous post.

- The entry claimed 'huge' amounts of Ho Yay between a male Shepard and male characters. When does this happen? I never saw any subtext between any male characters and Shepard aside from Kaidan, who does of course turn out to be bisexual.

- Throughout the story, a male Shepard doesn't really make any of the first moves. Shepard can prod them in the right direction, but Liara and Tali outright admit their feelings, Ashley and Kelly flirt with Shepard, Jack propositions him for sex, and Miranda speaks about how much she admires him. I think this is important, because Steve is the first male friend Shepard comes across that both the player and Shepard know is gay right from the start. It's also important if things are different playing as a female Shepard, which ties into how female homosexuality is treated differently than male homosexuality. I know Shepard has to make the first move with Garrus.

- There's no doubt that Jacob was by far the least popular love interest in ME 2. I think we can assume that Jacob's behavior in ME 3 had a lot to do with that. If that had happened to Garrus, there would have been an uproar. Is Jacob unpopular as a love interest because he's black? I don't know, but if he is, that's more of a reflection on the fan base than the developers. So that's something that should be considered.

- The entry implied Kelly and Allers had light romances because they were bisexual. I don't really see that. Liara and Kaidan are bisexual, and both of their romances are as 'deep' as any of the straight characters.

Why is Fang from Final Fantasy XIII referred to as a black female?
