  • Thorald Grey-Mane can become this, depending on how the player completes the "Missing In Action" quest. It's possible to call upon the General Tullius and the Imperial Legion to help influence the Thalmor into letting him free without bloodshed. No matter how the quest is completed, however, Thorald will run off and join the Stormcloaks, the faction currently at war with the Legion. It's not entirely unjustified, since the Thalmor has a strained coexistence with the Empire and they could try to muscle him out to prevent a major incident, so hiding out with the Stormcloaks might be a reasonable option... except that he can been seen actively fighting against the Empire when claiming Fort Amol for the Stormcloaks. Certainly, the best way to thank someone for your freedom.
because I'm pretty sure this isn't a thing. Thorald disappears from the game once he's been rescued, so he won't be actively fighting for the Stormcloaks.

Also, wasn't the 'free Thorald with the Legion's help' option bugged out of the ctual game?

What's precedent ever done for us?
