- Black Humour
- Season 2’s virus called “FemtoPWN” and “FemtoCell.” Even the cast had troubles with this because you can hear them switch from pronouncing it “fem-too-cell” in the beginning, and switching to “fem-toe-cell.” Femto (“fem-toe”) is an anime villain infamous for betraying his allies and raping one of the main characters. In that context, “FemtoCell” actually means “demonic cell raper,” which makes sense considering they are trying to penetrate FBI phone security.
And:
- Shout Out
- To Berserk in episode 6; the virus is named “FemtoPWN” and “FemtoCell.” Their goal is to “forcefully penetrate” the FBI networks with it. The similarities don’t stop there. Like the Berserk villain Femto, the malware started with good intentions and ultimately became a tool of the series’ Greater-Scope Villain, causing global destruction.
"Femtocell" is the real-world name for a portable cell-phone 'tower', not a reference to the anime character. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Femtocell
Like most of the hacks in Mr Robot, the FBI hack is based on hardware and exploits that exist in real life; the creators of this show did their homework.

- Hypocrite: Fsociety is against Capitalism, despite clearly having purchased everything they use.
Is this clear? I as I recall, they're squatting in their hacker cave. Elliot says that the building has no owner.
Hide / Show RepliesThis is not remotely hypocritical anyway. It is like saying that NASA is hypocritical because they use materials found on Earth, not in Space.
F Society is an obvious stand in for Anonymous. Would this come under No Celebrities Were Harmed or Bland-Name Product?

I haven't used this site in years but just as a casual user, it seems like someone who's REALLY anti-Angela has gone through and just, spread their bias across almost every page. YMMV or otherwise. It's incredibly distracting and jarring to see, and I believe it should be removed. I know Angela has done some crappy things, but the level of hate goes beyond objectivity and the consistency in the language reeks of one person's bias. I would like this adjusted to be more fair.
Meh.
