I think it was midway down the toilet in Season 2, it just felt more natural because the original cast was there. But seriously, what kind of show gets rid of its protagonist? She didn't even come back as a picture or via Skype! :P

Think this qualifies as Dueling Shows with Tower Prep? They've got similar premises, though Tower Prep is outright paranormal.

I'd say it does, yeah. I mean, with the exception of the fact that Tower Prep has the whole Escape from the Crazy Place angle going on, they're pretty similar.
