Just how much energy would be involved in an FTL crash? What would be the calculations for it?

More than infinite energy unless you were cheating up folding the universe in which case you are getting places faster than light could, but you are still moving a speed less than the speed of light through the folds of the universe. That is why literally FOLDING THE UNIVERSE is more efficient than even trying to any where close to the speed of light.
