"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman Hide / Show RepliesI don't know if it should be cut, but I can understand why some people might think about it. It seems like this is just two things happening to come together, by nothing but coincidence in most cases. And when it's not just a coincidence, how can we know that it's not?
But it's really just like Evil Redhead and Redheaded Hero. Two things that just happen to sometimes go together being made into a trope.
I've never understood why this trope even exists. Differing tastes, I suppose... What makes it even more bizarre is that it is usually a shy, bespectacled busty girl... which, in my mind at least, means there is absolutely no competition. Then again, they only ever go for nice guys... -_-;
"Do what thou wilst shalt be the whole of the law." ~ Aleister CrowleyThe trope name is somewhat unintuitive — or this might just be me being pedantic; is this about the character archetype, or the phenomenon?
Please be gentle with me. Hide / Show RepliesSorta both, I guess. On one hand, it is about the character type, but it also has some focus on the phenomenon. They're related, in that the phenomenon of the Busty Girl being Unlucky creates the character archetype of Busty Girls being Unlucky. If that makes any sense whatsoever.
I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.I didn't see the YKTTW, not having been there in ages, but I assume it was inspired by Unlucky Childhood Friend.
