Hey Tropers,

I thought the description could use some improvement. I took a stab at it and put a draft in my sandbox for you to take a look at. Let me know what you all think.

I like it so far, but I would cut the line about "... unique sexual habits of the gay community of the time" because it can come off as judgey and victim blaming and it's not really relevant to the trope.

Okay, fair enough, I removed it. Thanks for your input!

I do think it is relevant to the trope, in the sense that people don't like to think about how AIDS (and indeed most ST Is) can spread so easily among people with a wide range of sexual partners. Indeed, this led to quite a bit of misinformation with respect to the monkeypox in more recent years; public health authorities were reluctant to discuss the ease of its sexual transmission for fear of exactly what you mentioned — coming across as "judgey and victim blaming", leading people to think it spread like Covid and take unnecessary prevention measures. That's certainly this trope in action, isn't it? But as you mention, it is kind of tangential to the broad sense of the trope and maybe better fits in a Real Life example than in the page description.

I think there is a way to address that but the specific way it was phrased rubbed me the wrong way. In particular the ellipses. It just implied a level of snark that came off as judging. Especially with how much happened at the time and was used as a way of judging and blaming people.
