The trope is up for renaming, so that one might get fixed....

This does have heavy overlap with Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch, but it's not complete. The hatred has to be started by somebody. Often that somebody is someone who was outside the demographic but forced to watch because they were babysitting someone inside the demographic and didn't dare anger the Moral Guardians at the time.

Think of the "Hamster Huey" works in Calvin And Hobbes, and Calvin's dad's feelings about them. There is an informed fictional version of this.

There's also a lot of connection to the old reviewers warning "review something for what it is not for what it is not".
