What trope would the inversion of this (comic relief character on the heroes' side is the one who saves the day) be?

  • In the season 3 finale of Doctor Who the Master defeats the Doctor, and the human race, for the first time ever. It becomes obvious that he hadn't expected to win when he spends his year of triumph dancing to The Scissor Sisters and tormenting his various prisoners - there's no real phase 2 of the plan. This is basically an example of a villain finally getting his act together to heighten the tension.
    • Actually, phase 2 was Building a series of rockets and such, so that he could leave the planet, probably destroying it, and take over the universe. He just spent a LONG time doing it!

Another "Actually..." that proves the entire entry wrong. The Master is a Big Bad, not part of a Goldfish Poop Gang. The Master either wins (temporarily) or is narrowly defeated — he's been mocked in canon but not humiliated. At least once (in "The Keeper of Traken") he scored a slam-dunk.

Removed.

May I suggest starting a thread in the Image Pickin' forum, then?
