"Beautiful soprano engaged to the elderly comic patter baritone is seduced by the valiant young tenor, who is himself sought by an aging alto hag" is not actually the plot of most Gilbert And Sullivan shows, though it's true of The Mikado and Anna Russell's Gilbert And Sullivan parody (and probably other parodies).
what would the opposite be? Do we have a "Same name, different story" (or "same name, different everything else"?? I found a game named The Surge 2 that has nothing to do with the similarly named movie or its videogame derivatives. It appears to be purely a marketing thing. I'm wondering if we have a page for when names are marketed in this way
