If a male dislikes sugar, but they aren't particularly manly, is it still this trope? It sounds like this trope applies only to men who hate sugar and sweets as a way to show off their manliness, but it doesn't say exactly what the boundaries of being included in this trope are.

Let's trope like gentlemen... Or not. Your choice. *shrugs*

... Where can I get this alleged "Man Pocky" from? It intrigues me.

I'm not sure if this is a valid trope, but the prose is nearly unreadable. TV Tropes is "a catalog of the tricks of the trade for writing fiction." But this entry isn't about fiction at all; it's just some assertions about psychology and cultural phenomena. And again, more importantly, it's no fun to read.

Did this go through YKTTW?- doesn't look like it. I don't know if it's really a trope- like I know we have Real Men Eat Meat, but I'm not so sure that there is any feeling that sugar is something men can't like (there is a stereotype against "girly" foods- quiche is a frequent target- but sugar?)

Also, there is Drink Order, which is related.

I guess my main problem is that the description just seems "off".

Yeah, I got the same feeling - I've never heard of liking sweet foods as being something 'girly.' Heck, if that's the case, then I'm the prissiest Nancy in town!

Well, when this page was created, this is stated to be quite a commonly Japanese Cultural Trait, which would seem very alien to Westerners, but is in fact quite a valid trope amongst Japanese Boys and Men.
