Can anyone explain the difference between this and Ill Kill You besides the wording?

Prepare To Die is more of a premeditated threat, while I'll Kill You is more of an Ax Crazy sort of thing, an outburst rather than a calmly stated threat.

One of the variations I've seen, from an Inuyasha translation, is "wash your neck". As one would do in preparation for their own execution, according to the translation notes.
