Given that I studied piano — and not casually — for the best part of a decade and never once heard it referred to as anything but "Moonlight Sonata", to the point I wasn't aware it had another name, I'd say so.

Would "Moonlight Sonata" count as this? The piece's proper name is 'Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor "Quasi una fantasia", Opus 27 , Number 2'.
