Came to the discussion page to ask if this is really tropeworthy only to see I asked the same question 8 years ago 😅
It doesn't seem "city-specific" either from the description or examples (and the page pic shows a building in the middle of nowhere). Some of the examples are a Small, Secluded World and others are works that just don't happen to mention anywhere outside of their setting. Others don't even fit that — Buffy is on here, for example, and there is definitely a world outside of Sunnydale, with several plots that involve characters leaving town or arriving from outside.
I've listed this as a subtrope of Small, Secluded World, but I'm not sure if it's really a different trope at all.
