Personal example: At a family wedding, a relative came up to me, called me by my father's nickname, and said "You haven't changed in 25 years!"
"In the Smallville Flashback episode Relic, we see Clark's real father, Jor-El, and Lana's great aunt, Louise Mc Callum, both played by Lana and Clark's actors. (Lionel Luthor's father and Jonathan Kent's father also appeared, but surprisingly Lachlan Luthor was played by John Mann instead of John Glover and Hiram Kent was played by Dean Wray instead of John Schneider.) Especially interesting because of the Retcon when Jor-El comes to Smallville (in the 9th season) and he is acted by Julian Sands... who looks nothing like Tom Welling.... To the point of having different hair colors. Also in the Smallville episode Spell, it's revealed in flashback that Lana looks exactly like another one of her ancestors: the seventeen century witch Countess Margaret Isobel Thoureax."
A possible in-universe explanation (I think the term is Fridge Brilliance?) could be for Lana: Isobel Thoureax somehow did something to cause her descendants to look liker her, as she would want whoever she overshadows to have a familiar body. Clark: He saw the flashbacks through Jor-El's memory, which would mean seeing through Jor-El's eyes, essentially becoming Jor-El. Thus we see Clark standing in for Jor-El.
Edited by 70.183.79.130I'm not sure about the wording on the Jekyll example. It's not so much a justification as it is a Voodoo Shark, but the fact that it's made into a plot point pushes me towards some sort of Deconstruction. Thoughts?
I removed the following, because Megaman Battle Network and Megaman Starforce are a different continuity to Classic and X, and Legends is another continuity. In other words, it's Alternate Universe, not Identical Grandson. And Battle Network's Mega Man.EXE and Starforce's Megaman Geo-Omega aren't identical. They have different eye colours and hairstyles for one thing.
- In the Megaman series, with the notable exception of the Megaman Zero arc, the main character looks EXACTLY THE SAME as the main characters of all the other arcs. Somewhat averted in that, in the Megaman and Megaman X arcs, Megaman was a robot built by the same person. However, this doesn't explain the Megaman.EXE/Megaman Battle Network arc, in which the titular character is a computer program, or the Megaman Starforce arc, in which Megaman is a fusion of the player and an alien made of electromagnetic radiation.
The Simpsons has Homer and Abe, especially when they pull back Abe's face and when Homer runs a marathon. Also in flashbacks to the past, Homer and Bart 'play' their own ancestors.
I know it's not a proper example, because they're two entirely unrelated films, but Helen Mirren as Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II?

I don't see that much of a resemblance between Goku and Gohan, even, no, ESPECIALLY, as a kid. If anything, that one's Only Six Faces on the part of Akira Toriyama.
