Literally every Smurf with an occupation-related name fits this trope. Farmer Smurf, Doctor Smurf, Narrator Smurf, etc.

Does the owner of Dinoco being named "Tex Dinoco" count?

I just learned that Boone from Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero's last name is "Wiseman". Though this does not at all match his intelligence.

This is implied a lot for the parents in Ever After High. For example Madeline Hatter is the daughter of the Mad Hatter, and Raven Queen is the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White. And played straight for the Evil Queen in the Fairy Tale Police Department.

Does this trope refer specifically to people, or can it cover also things like a sword named Sword, or a big city named The Big City?

A sword named "sword" fits more under "A Dog Named "Dog"". Since a sword is a thing, not a person. And "Big City" fits more under "Everytown, America". Especially if it's not based on anywhere specific.

Imagine if Beowoulf called Grendel's mother "Hag", and a Bait-and-Switch follows, where she says "Hey!" like she's offended, but then says "How'd you know my name?".

Dr. Strange's full name is "Stephen Vincent Strange".

Implied to be the case for Mayor Goodway in PAW Patrol, as her niece and nephew call her "Aunt Mayor", though that could just be a nickname.

Pulled this:

  • One of Dick Giordano's text pages in The L.A.W. miniseries revealed this about Sarge Steel: "And 'Sarge' is his name (Sargent, as in Sargent Shriver), not his rank."

Not his rank. He was a private eye, and then a special agent. Never a soldier or cop, so never a sergeant. Sarge is just his name.

Isn't Doctor Krieger on Archer an example of this?
