Would Handmaid's Tale count as this? The "every whim is provided in abundance" part would certainly *not* count, but the description "not locked up, mind you, because why would they need to lock the door? [..] The door is always open and never open" certainly fits.

It was long and unclear, so it wasn't good for the main page description. However, I've now preserved it at SelfDemonstrating.Gilded Cage.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
