"The major stipulation is it is not usually required to canonically fit into the "main" game or require having played it to enjoy." This could mean you don't need to play the Gaiden game to enjoy the main series or you don't need to play the main series games to enjoy the Gaiden game.
Will I be informed if people reply to my discussion post?Could someone please explain why this trope, which has a perfectly understandable, clear, concise redirect in Side Game, is labeled in such an unclear, confusing, non-indicatory manner?
Or, to put it another way, why is this trope named the unclear, doesn't-tell-you-anything-about-the-trope phrase Gaiden Game, rather than the simple, easy to understand Side Game?
Being in a Japanese-produced work is not enough of a difference to warrant its own trope. Hide / Show RepliesLove for the Japanese and geeky references to obscure stuff like Gaiden.
Will I be informed if people reply to my discussion post?If there's a non-video game example (especially if it's made by the same person/team as the original story), does it go under Twice-Told Tale or elsewhere?
