Subjective yes, but am I the only one that thinks the No Real Life Examples thing is to spare feelings?

KA Applegate upset many of her fans with the ending to Animorphs. Killing off a main character right at the end after 53 main books where no named character died or stayed dead, giving the series a Bolivian Army Ending, and leaving many loopholes caused an outcry that resulted in her sending a letter to the fans that was rather defensive on her part.
