This whole page is kind of a mess. In its current form, it's serving as a de facto Useful Notes page for the state of Texas, down to filling that spot in several indexes, rather than a trope page about exaggerated depictions of Texan stereotypes. I'm inclined to make a separate Useful Notes page, migrate lots of the Real Life stuff on here over there, and make this into more of a trope page. That feels like something that should probably be discussed in the Trope Repair Shop first, but I'm unsure what the proper procedure is for that. Anyone want to lend a hand?

Most of the entries in the pro wrestling section are just wrestlers who happen to be from Texas, but aren't actually examples of this trope. Guys like Stan Hansen, Dusty Rhodes, and Barry Windham actually played it up as part of their gimmick. Shawn Michaels and Eddie Guererro played with it, as they could occasionally be seen wearing cowboy hats and boots. But someone like Booker T is an aversion if not a subversion. He and his brother Stevie Ray rose to national prominence as Harlem Heat and were actually billed as being from New York. Even when Booker T dropped the "Harlem" gimmick and was billed from Houston, he never played up any Texas stereotypes of any kind.
