I'd like to add to the article that the grandfather of the cutscene was the art and music in pinball machines. Every pinball machine game is essentially a bunch of flippers, a ball, a plunger and various bumpers. The art on the machine and the music was all that separated the Ghostbusters pinball machine from the Back to the Future pinball machine.

I don't think that's really... accurate. The art and music would be more like akin to graphics, not cutscenes.
