Every single one of the film examples is "averted"; are there any films at all in which the main characters hide behind seemingly bulletproof car doors? I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely can't think of any for sure. Beverly Hills Cop? Heat? Ronin? (although I'm guessing that the last two also avert the trope).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but reading through the list it seems that every single example - from all media, genres etc - is "averted" as well. Is this trope a complete myth?

A dead horse trope at the very least.

From the description: "This [trope] is common enough that only aversions, subversions and justified cases should be listed."

This occurs by default in Real Life.

If it is played straight then...
