"Indicating a factual error" on the article page is not the correct way of handling factual errors; see Repair, Don't Respond.

I can't repair the source material...
My main concern about {{Repair Don't Respond}} was that someone might simply make the same mistake again. I am now aware that TV Tropes allows code comments, and in the future I will be using these if I am concerned about a mistake being repeated (something like, "%commented the above line because it is a common misconception"). It should prevent this from repeating. I am surprised that {{Repair Don't Respond}} doesn't say anything about this, since it can be a great way to avoid visible natter on the page when used properly.
EDIT: I'm not getting the markup right for anything. I might just quit editing entirely.

Despite years of lurking, I just started reading the Administrivia pages today. Having noticed the Permanent Red Link Club and that link's presence there, I was actually coming back to fix the mistake. I always thought that it was unfair to tell people that they should know something (especially using rhetorical phrases such as "no excuse") according to the speaker's own intellectual priorities. In my many years here I've only ever seen that title used wrong, and never felt a need to check editing guidelines since I wasn't editing. I don't mind the correction; I actually appreciate it.
I don't understand why you considered mine to be a Justifying Edit though. I wasn't justifying anything; by indicating a factual error I think that I was doing quite the opposite. Then again, I am now making a justifying edit to the discusion page, so I might be prone to such things. I thought that useful information was being added, but I am now reminded that useful information is not so valued everywhere (that sounds passive-agressive, but it isn't). I don't want to start an edit war, so I'll let it be and let others consider the points that I make here.
