Also, can I just say I don't like the What If with Spider-Man and Black Widow? Because I doubt Black Widow would eat somebody, just because of her code name. It's not like she's an actual black widow spider, she's a human being! I know I'm splitting hairs, but still! I find it out of character, and in poor taste! No pun intended.
Edited by MrStranger616I don't really think anything of this trope. Especially as a kid I didn't. I mean, is the burp supposed to imply the prey was digested? I mean, come on. When you eat something, it's not dissolved instantly. It takes a good five minutes or so, giving the victim plenty of time to escape. Then again, biological functions are sometimes sped up in media. Like lizard tails instantly growing back, or eggs instantly hatching after being laid, so I guess digestion is no exception. But still.
Edited by MrStranger616In most scenes I've seen in cartoons where somebody gets eaten, and they do one of these so called "Burps of Finality", the victim's actually still alive.
Though, what's the distinction between swallowing something and eating it? I thought those were the same.
I love Danny's dialogue "Don't burp" and then the frog burps "I hate you".
Also, the prey's status being based on a burp seems like jumping to conclusions. Since they do this alleged burp in non fatal vore comics too. Or is there a certain distinction?
Edited by MrStranger616There's a subversion in the Earthworm Jim cartoon. When Jim gets eaten by an alligator lady, the narrator says "Surely this can't be the end of our hero!" And then she burps, and he says "Okay, maybe it can." But Jim escapes at the last minute.
"Show the victim is gone forever".
I don't do that. Unless its a villain getting their Just Desserts.
