I feel the Chinese commies are ruling China this way. As long as the people live a good life, they can do whatever they want.

Is there a related trope for a society who's had their bread and circuses so long, gotten so content or even spoiled, that even the slightest government slipup causes them to riot even when things are still better than all their neighbors?
