GTA V does away with GTA IV inconveniences and keeps actually distinct saves, even if 2 or more distinct players shared the same system and Rockstar Social Club account, at least on PC. It is pretty traumatic to login and get the North Yankton prologue cutscene because your save was somehow corrupted or deleted.

Another opportunity for corruption happens given the nature of the online part, so it is a good idea to keep more than one save for each gameplay.

Another good feature: The game will still ask permission, every time you play it, to overwrite the autosave for the first time after it was executed, giving you a chance to load another save.

Farm Simulator 2019 has an autosave feature on PC, but it is nearly useless. It only auto-saves when you enter the map feature (with the ESC button), so if you have been playing for hours straight on a single tractor on a field, or not using the menu at all, you could lose considerable amount of work you did to your farm if the game crashes.

However, to leave the game normally, you need to use the menu, and it would autosave. But once again, you get bitten by the feature if you simply close the game on a Windows platform using alt-F4.

I never played Farm Simulator 2022 to know if the feature has been properly fixed.

Satisfactory, being a game about building an exploration base, unlocks the full potential of auto-saves. Given its nature, where you can build, dismantle, and rebuild, it auto-saves to a new copy every configurable minutes, and rotates about 10 of them for each game. I guess the only limit is the amount of memory each save takes.

You don't actually need to save scum, but if you do need to reload, the saves are numbered and carry the date and time on each one of them.

Are auto saves used by computer programs allowed? I know OS X has an API you can opt-in to enable auto saving for an app.
