Is there a reason why is this considered trivium? Looks like regular old trope for me, it isn't really anything meta any more than the rest of adaptation tropes or something that while connected to the show doesn't really come from the story properlike the rest of trivia.
Hide / Show RepliesI said it during the ykttw, and I'm going to say it again: it doesn't make sense for the examples to be sorted by the medium of the original works instead of the medium of the adaptations, when it's the adaptations that the examples are from.
I mean, look at this page: all the examples listed under "Literature" are from films, and all the examples listed under "Film" are from webcomics. What kind of sense does that make?
Hide / Show RepliesYeah, when I saw this page I did not see why the sorting had to be done this way. Might want to offer it up here for consideration.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI kept the YKTTW open for a month and a half just so people could vote on this issue. Only five people (including myself) voted, and it came down 3-2 in favour of sorting by original medium.
You can check the archived YKTTW thread for the arguments both ways. There were strong arguments made on both sides, but in the end I had to make an executive decision.
If you think it should be changed, you're welcome to open a discussion about it. But make sure you do actually give people a chance to debate, rather than unilaterally changing it because it's what you think is better.
'Crisis or no, nothing should interfere with tea!'Either way though the boldfaced note needs to go away. These editor notices go into the page source text as commented out text, not out in the open.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, this should definitely be in the Adaptation. After all, you wouldn't put this on the Star Wars page, you'd put it on the Darths And Droids page.
