If it's not the modern name of the animal but an old, historic one that wouldn't be recognized by modern audiences, I think it would fall here.

Somebody asked who the Trope Namer is. I'm not sure there is one. I did watch The Magic School Bus, and Liz the lizard was an early example on this page. But I wouldn't say it was named after her in a conscious, deliberate sense.

Beorn looks a lot like the Norwegian word for bear because it's the Old English version of the same word, so should that be moved to A Dog Named "Dog"?
