When I was in middle school, these were the kind if books I ate up like candy. Escapist, vapid, shallow candy that offered nothing more than playing pretend that one day I'd be cool and fabulous and other kinds of escapist fantasies a depressed middle schooler who had two or three friends she had to distance herself from in order to protect them from her fate. Yep. I was that pathetic. I reread them all about a year ago because why the hell not, and literally the only reason I got the last two was to see if Massie and her bitch squad ever got what they deserved. I've made a point to hide them all from my baby sister to protect her from the banal stupidity and extreme errors.
