Is this novel a totally new storyline, or is Colfer working from outlines or notes left behind by Adams?

It's not a totally new storyline, for sure.

This is a policy page, not a trope:
  • There Is No Such Thing as Notability: The Guide apparently follows this rule, considering the fact its articles cover topics such as Vogon buttock pillows, the poor fitness of a particular staff writer who once practiced martial arts that were really all in his head and consequently got cocky and lost a bar fight to writers from another publication, Zaphod's pants-sprayer, reality TV, and various other seemingly useless topics. It seems to return frequently to the shortcomings of a particular staff writer who doesn't tend to check things aside from how much drink is in his glass and how froody things are. And yet the Earth barely merits a mention.

Does anyone know where it would be possible to read it? (I have read all the other 5 (though Mostly Harmless a LOT more recently than the other 4...)

How is Thor a Deus Ex Machina? He's a major character in the book. Unless this is some sort of pun.
