Guys to answer the headscratchers page "Suddenly we know everything", after Asriel came back as Flowey, he spent time with both his parents. He probably told them then!

Fridge Horror: Flowey at the end of the Neutral Route absorbs six humans souls, which grants him more determination than even the player. Judging from what we see in the True Lab, that should melt his body. But, given the nature of his boss fight, he is trying to terrify the heck out of you. He would have no problem if his already nightmare fuel form started MELTING. He would know what happens with determination, since he was created in the True Lab, even going as far as writing Alphys a note reading "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID", which is why we even have access to it in the first place. We also know for a fact that determination does have an effect on his body, since we see multiple times in the game where his body (usually his face) starts melting. He is also in somewhat CONTROL of this. The biggest example also is AS HE ABSORBS THE HUMAN SOULS. He also is subjected to this if you kill him after the boss fight.

Flowey shows himself at the start and when you are about to leave the ruins, and all shows he is gonna cause a lot of trouble, right? Except he does not show until the end! You hear that a flower has been supporting PAPYRUS, a bed of yellow flowers breaks your fall in the junk fields and a flower has told about you to Asgore! And that's not all: he has been watching you more than anyone else along the way and has never done a thing AGAINST you! Why? You are his friend, good or bad, and ASRIEL will go to extremes to ensure you survive.

I think this is more him engineering through Papyrus the appearance of all the monsters in the true pacifist ending. Papyrus says he calls everyone to intervene in the fight, getting everyone in one place to absorb their souls. The yellow bed of flowers in the junk heap is explained away by a couple things, the scientist working with them in DETERMINATION experiments makes a passing remark about how the seeds keep getting stuck to her. That, and she always hangs out in the trash heap.

I dunno, the page is locked so I guess I'll put my idea for Undertale fridge brilliance here and maybe somebody will sort it out.

In Mettaton NEO's fight, doing anything but a fully powered attack basically lets him abort the no mercy run and turn it into a bad neutral ending. He says it's because he looks human and failing to reliably attack something that looks so human means Frisk can't be totally genocidal, but there are two other interpretations, one more in universe and one more out of. The first is that if they survive even one turn then the player isn't truly out to kill everybody, just see what happens, causing mettaton NEO to abort the run because the intent needed to let the First Child take over isn't truly there. Second is that sparing him at all even though he's an obstruction is a little "out of character" for the person who's been killing monsters left and right and leaving no one alive, and his speech is basically a Break Them by Talking moment that wakes Frisk up and keeps the fallen child from gaining full control. Even if it wasn't because he looked human Frisk still hesitated, so even if Mettaton missed the mark, he had a valid point saying, basically, "you're better than this, no matter how little, and you know it."

Going to add this here because the page appears perma-locked for some reason. The Pacifist Route is forever locked to you if you kill a single monster because Flowey/Asriel needs every single monster's SOUL to equal one human one and break the barrier. However, according to one of the signs describing monster history on the walls in Waterfall, it would take nearly every monster's soul to equal a human one, not all of them. Why the difference? Because Asriel no longer has his soul, meaning you do need all of them now but not at the time the signs went up.

Where is it mentioned that the Fallen Child poisoned themself? I know that they and Asriel put the Buttercups in pie and made Asgore sick, but when was it mentioned that they deliberately ate the same plant?

It was mentioned in the True Lab tapes, where Asriel says "I... I don’t like this idea, [...] Yeah, you’re right. [...] We’ll be strong! We’ll free everyone. I’ll go get the flowers.

Heyo, just saw my entry deleted from the fridge page. Now I don't wanna be the "GOTTA FORCE MY HEADCANON GRRR" guy but I'd like to at least get a little word in edgewise. I don't trope often, so could we discuss it a little? Here's the original entry.

  • In the Golden Ending, Asriel uses the power of all the souls inside him to destroy the barrier keeping everyone in the cave. However, it takes seven human souls to break the barrier, and it was made perfectly clear that no amount of monster souls could equal the power of one human soul, and Asriel didn't have your soul to complete the set of seven. So where did the seventh soul come from? How did Asriel do it? He used the fallen child's evil soul. Asriel is finally free.

Two things, 1) It's actually said that it takes a lot of monster souls to equal a human soul, and at the last fight Asriel has collected every single monster soul, which would be enough. Also, in the walkabout afterwards you can go all the way back to the ruins, back to where you first fell, and Asriel is hanging out there and explicitly says that without any souls within him, he will soon revert back to Flowey.

Sans always speaks in Sans Serif. It's a category of fonts rather than a font in and of itself. When he's angry he speaks in 8bitoperator, which is the regular font used by other characters. Both 8bitoperator and Comic Sans are Sans Serif (That's why it's called Comic Sans) I keep seeing this misinformation circle around and it needles me. I corrected the line, but I'm not really sure if it should be removed entirely? I'm not experienced in Trope Stuffs.
