Ian Malcolm’s statement that these dinosaurs were here long before humans Actually, Dr. Malcolm NO. These particular dinosaurs were artificially created clones. So they are NOT part of the modern ecosystem, and are a danger to not only humans but other modern creatures. Why doesn’t anyone not tell Malcolm this?

Considering the movie is set in the film continuity, I'd go with the film's spelling.

Where are people getting this idea that the Indominus sibling was hatched later? It is crystal clear in the opening that there are two eggs, both of which are vibrating and hatching.

I'll copypaste myself here from the JP franchise discussion page for added attention:

Can we rearrange the character sheets for this franchise a bit?

Now there are a number of characters who feature in multiple movies, but only have entries in the character pages for the first movie they appeared in. This is a bit impractical, as you need to jump from page to another. Dr. Wu is a particular offender, as his main role is in Jurassic World, but his character entry is in the character page for the first film. Rexy is hit by it as well. (As JW gets sequels, the problem will only grow.)

So, could we do something like what was done with Lot R/Hobbit character pages and combine all characters from the franchise into the same character main page, with subpages for human visitors, In Gen employees, individual dinosaurs, dinosaur species, etc? All characters would be collected under the same page regardless of the movie they appear in, sorted out by their status and role.

Alternatively we could have the characters who appear in multiple movies on the main character page , and then also have separate pages for characters appearing only in individual movies. This is how they do it with James Bond franchise.

What do you people think? Is this unneeded or something that could be useful for us? Am I booed off the stage?

There is a brief shot of a human spinal cord in the lab where Indominus was created, and this is followed by shots of cuttlefish, frogs and snakes. What...nasty implications do this mean?

Before adding it I wanted to get an opinion from others: Could it be argued that there are three examples of Face, Nod, Action during the finale? One when the raptors decide to protect the humans, one when Rexy and Blue part ways, and finally when Owen and Blue have their moment at the end?

Some of the entries like the Manipulative Bastard on the character page suggest that Hoskins specifically had the Indominus rex created so it would escape and he could test the raptors.

Just curious what makes people think that rather simply him being Opportunistic Bastard

I'm under the impression Canon Discontinuity requires more then merely ignoring prior continuity, but explicit evidence (Word of God, events in-story) that it did not happen. Is that so?

Fanon Discontinuity might cover how we're looking for reason to dismiss the prior two films better.

You are correct. More to the point, the film doesn't even ignore prior continuity at all. Vic Hoskins got his job after shooting down the three pterodactyls that escaped during the events of Jurassic Park III. At no point, either implicit or explicit, were the second and third films ever exiled from continuity.

This is a virulent rumor brought on by imprecise wording and sensationalist journalism. Jurassic World "follows up on the first film" in the sense that it takes place on the same island, employs the same concepts, pursues the same themes, etc. That does not mean it's a direct sequel to only the first that boots the second and third out the door.

While a lot of fans might have jumped at the idea that the second and third films never happened, it's not true.

Agreed. This has been resolved and even though it's basically ignoring those two, it's not contradicting them. They're just unimportant, not written out.

I want to dispute this trope but would like to get some input before deleting it outright. I feel that both examples are poor examples of the trope.

  • Gambit Roulette:
    • The I. rex's plan to escape her cage relies on some humans going in there and one of them opening the main gate, both of which require incredible stupidity on the part of her captors. However smart, though, she's still an animal; one can't expect her to see all the angles.
    • Claire's plan to release Rexy from her paddock and lure her to the I. rex depends on a lot going right, mainly Claire being able to run faster than Rexy (in heels, no less) and Rexy deciding to fight I. rex, though the latter is fairly predictable animal behavior.

In the first example, the I. rex's trap was fairly straightforward. The first stage of it required someone to go and investigate the claw marks she made on the wall after she was declared to have escaped. This is a clever plan because it relies on curiosity; the first stage of the investigation is always going to be figuring out how she did it.

As for opening the main gate, that's just survival instinct. Once she reveals herself and corners the humans, their immediate behavior is going to be to try and escape from the pen. All she has to do is herd them away from exits small enough that she can't get through. No part of this plan relies on dumb luck.

The second example isn't even a gambit at all, it's just a straightforward plan: Claire leads the tyrannosaurus to the I. rex and the two dominant predators come to blows. Even the example itself points out that this relies on basic animal behavior, not luck.

Thoughts?

So, how to spell Zach's younger brother's name, exactly? Some uses Gray, others use Grey. Wikipedia and IM Db websites seems to show 'Gray' as the correct spelling, so should we change them all accordingly?

Who keeps italicizing and capitalizing the word "pterosaur"? That word does NOT need to be italicized and capitalized because it's not a genus/species name, it's the name of an animal group (by the same logic, we should be italicizing and capitalizing every instance of the word "dinosaur"). I'd fix the error myself, but most of them are too close to potential spoilers (which I'm trying to avoid until after I see the movie tomorrow.
