Painting the Medium: Chapter 16, where Zackel and Rielle take over the story: first they try and finish it themselves (which ends in failure as both try to make themselves look good and the other one look silly), and then break the 'fictionmaker' which launches the story into a mix of parodies, off-hand mystery scenes, and other Meta moments, including a scene where Jim Raynor from Blizzard's sister series Starcraft appears to complain about how long Starcraft 2 took to come out.
The chapter was apparently a belated April Fool's joke: in-story it's presented as another of Zackel's weird dreams.
There's also a few other pokes throughout the story at in-game mechanics, such as how overpowered Death Knights were upon the initial release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.

Is there a trope for this?
