Cut out the entire Ace Attorney section: Mia/Diego is canon and always was. Gumshoe/Maggie technically isn't but Maggie is already Implied Love Interest for Dick with no other pairing involving these two in sight (the only other person romantically involved with Maggie was Dustin who is Posthumous Character) While Franziska/Adrian, Ema/Klavier and Apollo/Klavier aren't canon none of involved have any canon love interest, there is no one to be prefered over Phoenix/Edgeworth is more or less valid(T&T ended with practically a love confession between Phoenix& Iris, so there is canon rivalry), but it's Zero Context Example and rules for this trope specifically ask for details. Rewrite it to digestible form and it may stay.

I don't see where the "must have another canon love interest" stipulation comes from. The trope just states that fans must prefer this couple to any other alternative... and them being solo is an alternative.

At the very least the games never denied the possibility. Considering that this is subtrope of Better Than Canon i'd expect that the couple in question would have at least be reasonably expected not to become canon at some point, otherwise it just turns into "most liked ship" and i don't think it's the point.
