A change from English to Japanese names has just been made on the page, with the stated edit reason of "If you are going to use the Viz names, then you'd have to use Zolo as well. You don't translate names through, otherwise you'd use Bartholomew Bear. Their names are Inuarashi and Nekomamushi. Viz is not translating it correctly, just like with "Zolo"."
To address those points
- "Zolo" wasn't something the translators had a choice on and has since become something of The Artifact that they're stuck with for the sake of consistency. Fortunately, the FUNimation dub provides an alternative official English to work from instead. On that note, to the best of my knowledge, Zolo/Zoro is the only real point where FUNi and Viz differ on names, so it'd be reasonable to assume they would use Cat Viper and Dogstorm, though obviously the dub for Zou is quite some ways away so that last bit is pure speculation on my part.
- "Inuarashi" and "Nekomamushi" literally do translate to "Dogstorm" and "Cat Viper", so the "improper translation" doesn't quite fly. My own personal takeaway was that they were like titles or nicknames as much as actual names, but that part is purely my own speculation. But that would justify translating them vs keeping them in Japanese.
As things get moving along with these new Straw Hat subordinate crews, I think that we may have to eventually create another section for those guys since it's getting kind of packed here. I propose a new "Straw Hat Fleet Members" folder or something along that line under the "Straw Hat Pirates" section (once it's confirmed that they're under Luffy). Anybody who's not in the fleet stays in Major Allies, of course.

Are we really agreeing that Sabo being alive is no longer spoileriffic? It's only un-whited because it's being put in the description, which has been fixed without thinking about the contents.

Should we move Cavendish to the Major Allies section? He's gotten more screen-time and importance than most of the other and Colliseum guys, and now he's even fighting with Robin and Bartolomeo.

I think we should let him stay in "Others" for a bit more time. I have a strong feeling he'll become an outright ally of them sooner or later, but for now, he seems to be in an Enemy Mine situation with them. Bartolomeo is devoted to the Straw Hats while Cavendish only helps them because he would currently rather see Doflamingo dead than them.

Bringing this up to hopefully avoid edit war issues later - when the Duke Dogstorm & Cat Viper were on Characters.One Piece Others, there was some back and forth whether to use the official English names for the pair or the original Japanese names (Inuarashi and Nekomamushi).

I'm for using the English names, since they're they're what's used in the official English translation, and I tend to go by that with occasional exceptions (such as "Zolo", though thankfully FUNimation removes the obligation in that case. I also personally find the English names, which are translations of the Japanese ones anyway, to be a bit more attention grabbing. You go across an entry and see "Inuarashi" you'll dismiss it as random Japanse. You go across an entry and see "Dogstorm" you might stop for a second.
The other two who posted voted for Japanese names. Reasons seem to be mostly preference.
